Borobudur Temple
source:googleThe largest Temple/Stup Borobudur is the most famous stupa sisutated at 'Java Island' in Indonesia. It is related to Buddhism, which was built by a ruler of Shailendra dynasty. It was built during 750-854 AD. The name of its manufacturer is not known nor the date of its manufacture is known. The Borobudur Stupa still exists as a monument to the glorious era of the Sailendra kings.

* Borobudur is the largest Stup of the world.
* The monument is located in the Kedu Valley, in the southern part of Central Java, at the centre of the island of Java, Indonesia.
* The British Lieutenant Governor on Java, Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles, only rediscovered the site in 1814 upon hearing reports from islanders of an incredible sanctuary deep within the island’s interior.
* The entire site contains 504 statues of the Buddha.
* It is the important center for Mahayan Sachool.
* Borobudur Stupa can be considered as the eighth wonder of the world.
* Indian influence on its architecture can be clearly seen.
* This stupa is situated on top of a high hill.It is 35 metre high from sea level.
* It has 9 sections, which are progressively smaller than each other.
* There is a bell-shaped stupa on the topmost section, whose size is very large.
* The length of the bottom square section is 131 yards.
* Many statues of Buddha are engraved on its stone plates.
* Many incidents of Buddha's life are engraved on the stone plates of Pradakshina Marga, some of which are taken from 'Lalitavistara'.
* This stupa is a classic example of the grandeur of the architectural vision of the kings of India who ruled over Java and its neighboring islands.
